A hard-wearing floor that still looks the part.
Anyone can lay a coating. Whether it lasts comes down to the preparation underneath, and that’s the part we won’t rush. As for which system, that comes down to whether the area’s under cover, how hard the floor will be used and your budget. You’ll get an honest recommendation, not a sales pitch.
The hardest-wearing floor we lay, used almost entirely indoors. It’s a cementitious polyurethane, trowelled on with cement and graded aggregate, and it’s the system specified for commercial kitchens and food production, where it shrugs off washdowns, hot water and thermal shock and outlasts everything else.
It sets rigid, so any movement joints in the slab have to be cut and detailed properly first, or a crack will telegraph through. That prep is the part we won’t rush.
The hard-wearing, more affordable option. It wipes clean, shrugs off hot tyres, dropped tools and spilt oil or solvents, and keeps looking new for years instead of staining and pitting like bare concrete. Under cover, where UV can’t reach it, it’s the right call.
Available in solid colours or with a broadcast flake finish. It yellows outdoors, so we only use it in covered areas.

Worn, chalky concrete on a covered alfresco. The owners wanted to lift the space without the cost of a premium system, and with the area fully under cover and out of direct sun, epoxy was the sensible call. Ground back, repaired and finished in a solid colour for a clean, hard-wearing surface at a lower price point.
The old tiles had failed, so we lifted them, ground the base back and laid a seamless coating with no grout lines to trap grease. Scheduled around the venue’s trading hours to avoid lost business.
A raw, dusty garage slab. Unsealed concrete is porous, and its soft top layer keeps breaking down into a fine dust that lifts into the air every time you sweep or pull the car in. We ground it back and sealed it with a clear penetrating sealer that soaks in and hardens the surface, locking the dust down and leaving the concrete clean without changing its natural look.

Joshua learned the trade working in his father’s flooring business. Years on the tools, taught to do the job right rather than fast. It’s the reason his floors hold up. Over the years that work has included commercial sites like Cadbury and Arnott’s.
He started Underfoot because he genuinely enjoys the work. Taking a worn garage or a tired alfresco and turning it into something you’re glad to stand on. He does the preparation properly and lays the coating by hand, and he’d rather let the finished floor do the talking.
Joshua is hands-on with every job. The smaller ones he does himself; on larger jobs he brings in a crew and runs it on site. Either way, he’s the one you deal with and the one who stands behind the result.
